The given line graph illustrates the percentage of money spent on advertising across five types of media in France over a 30-year period from 2010 to 2040.
Overall, Internet advertising was the only category to show an upward trend, whereas television, newspapers, magazines and radio all declined over the period. Although Internet advertising initially had the lowest figure, it became the highest by the end of the period.
At the beginning of the period, television advertising accounted for approximately 35% of total advertising expenditure, which was considerably higher than the figure for Internet advertising at less than 5%. By 2020, both categories had increased by around 10 percentage points. However, television advertising then declined slightly to about 38% in 2040. In contrast, Internet advertising continued to rise significantly, hitting a peak of over 45% by the end of the period.
The remaining three categories all experienced declines throughout the period. Radio and magazine advertising stood at 10% and 15% respectively in 2010 before falling steadily to less than 5% by 2040. Meanwhile, newspaper advertising was just under 35% at the start of the period and then dropped sharply to approximately 10% in 2040.
