The bar chart compares the different data between house costs from 1990-1995 and 1996-2002 in five cities: New York, Madrid, Tokyo, Frankfurt, and London.
Overall, there was an upward trend in almost all cities listed on this chart, except for Tokyo, where house prices decreased during the two periods.
From the first period, London and Tokyo had the same figure, about 8% lower than the 1989 price. However, London prices soared and became the most valuable in accommodation in the second period, while Tokyo only increased by 3% but remained lower than the reference. Additionally, New York started at 5% lower and ended with a 10% increase from 1996-2002.
The only two cities, Madrid and Frankfurt, started with +2% and +3%, respectively, and had become the two figures that were higher than the 1989 price. Moreover, in the 1996-2002 period, Madrid saw an increasing trend of under five percent. In contrast, the figure for Frankfurt underwent a slight decrease of one percent compared with the first period.
