The given maps illustrate how one area has changed from 1965 to the present.
Overall, it is clear that the area underwent many changes over the 45-year period. The settlement was extended considerably, and several other amenities have been added.
In 1965, individuals could be transported by ferry across the wide river, as there was only a dirt road leading to the small town. Moreover, it is visible that the forest was located in the northwestern part of the area.
According to the current map, there were alterations to each part of the area. The most significant development was the building of two cement roads and bridges across the river, which was moderately narrowed. One of the roads could be crossed by people on foot; the other was designed for vehicles and led to the city. Furthermore, some circular car parks had appeared by 2010. By far the largest one was located on the left bank of the river, above the main road. Another car park lies between the apartment blocks and houses, which is accessible by a dirt track. The others are situated below the footpath. In contrast, the green space was removed. Another striking alteration was to the settlement in Assford. Apartments have appeared, and a number of houses were extended considerably. Numerous houses now lie on the right bank of the river, some of which are situated between two roads.
