Given are the two maps depicting the major modifications that have taken place in a specific area over the period from 1965 to the present.
Overall, it is evident that there have been many significant modifications which have completely improved the outlook of the city. However, the river in the center of the city remained unchanged.
According to the 1965 map, before the improvement, the city’s current design was simple. In the centre of the city, there was a river flowed along. Additionally, there was a road across the river by ferry to connect a natural place in the top left-hand corner and residents’ accommodation in the top right-hand corner of the city.
The second map clearly shows that modern facilities and accommodation have been added as a result of the renovation. Many houses have been erected alongside the riverside to accommodate the population explosion. To the north of the river, an apartment and a car park have been built. The natural place in the top left-hand corner has also been cut down to make space for building a car park. In addition, the ferry in the centre of the city was replaced with a foot bridge to improve Assford’s transportation. Furthermore, the road has been modernized by the construction of a road bridge next to a foot bridge. To the south of the city, another car park was added next to the foot bridge.
