Dear Farida,
How are you ? I hope you are well. I recieved your e-mail about you wanting to know how new year is celebrated in my country. This looks like an interesting topic for a project, and I am happy you reached out to me.
I know you are aware that I am a dual-citizen, I am an American but originally a Nigerian. I am going to tell you about new year in Nigeria because you have never been there, and I believe you would be intrigued. New year celebration is important to us because that is the time alot of families re-unite, and family members who have been overseas return home to see their loved ones.
The beginning of a year marks the start of new things for various ethnic groups in my country. I know that different tribes in remote areas get to dress in their cultural attire, and have a fashion show in their town hall. However, other cities like lagos and abuja have shows where popular artists like: Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Burna boy and Tiwa savage come to perform.
I personally love to return home because, I enjoy the varieties of delicacies my mother prepares for my neighbourhood in honor of my late father. It is that time of the year where i get to live freely. I get to do things such as going to the lake to swim, going to the farm with my siblings, going to visit relatives and enjoy freshly tapped palm wine.
I hope all that I have mentioned will help you get a good grade. Let me know if you need more information, I am always ready to assist you. I’d certainly love if you could come with me to experience all these.
I can’t wait to hear from you.
Your friend,
Jascinta
