Dear Kamal,
I am glad to hear that you have been selected for the Agriculture PGD program at Dhaka University. Since I completed the same course last year, I can share my experience to help you.
When I was admitted to the program, I initially stayed at my uncle’s house, which was quite far from the university. Eventually, I moved to a student mess near the university called Mirpur Student Mess. This mess only accommodates students, providing a friendly environment for everyone. Additionally, there is a public library nearby, which can be very convenient for your studies. Furthermore, various modes of transportation are available right in front of that accommodation.
If you prefer a mess over a rented apartment, I recommend contacting the manager as soon as possible, as the seats are limited. If you book early, you might be able to secure a lakeside room, which would provide a serene living environment.
Many students make mistakes when choosing suitable accommodation upon admission, such as living far from the university or sharing a room or apartment with non-students, which can be significant drawbacks. It’s important to be mindful of costs and catering options, as these factors can influence your study experience.
In conclusion, I hope that my experiences and suggestions will be helpful to you. Feel free to reach out if you need any more information about accommodation.
Yours sincerely,
Milon
