Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to express my disappointment about the local council’s recent decision on closing the sports and leisure centre in the Paldi area.
My family is a regular visitor of this park. Every morning, my father and elder brother jog in the sports area. Furthermore, my niece loves playing with her friends there, and my grandmother spends her evenings meditating and discussing worldly affairs with her acquaintances. Although I have a hectic work schedule, I always ensure to visit the centre to learn tennis and boxing regularly.
The leisure arena has been an important part of the area for decades now. From elderly and young people to children, everyone is emotionally attached to the centre. Countless kids and college students often visit the sports center to play basketball, tennis, and pool. Moreover, this center has been a training support for several athletes for their workouts and sports practice. In addition, several retirees regularly visit the centre for their evening walks and often do mild exercises together. In fact, many individuals have formed strong friendships over the years. All these instances prove how the local community has physically and socially benefited from the sport and leisure center over the years.
I strongly believe if the center is closed, it would be a huge loss for the local community. This place offers several extra-curricular activities for the young adults, and a relaxation spot for the old people. The sports enthusiasts will lose their practice field, the children will not have a playground anymore, and the elderly may lose their only source of unwinding.
I sincerely request you not to consider closing the community center. Instead, the local council should find other alternatives to fund its maintenance.
