Unexpected pandemic has brought in a new working culture called WFH which changed how people perform their jobs. While wfh could be cost-efficient and improve healthy eating habits, it can also contribute to slower growth of economy and unemployment.
One significant advantage of wfh is that it is cost efficient. Employees and management could save a decent amount without the need for paying for travel, electricity, and rent. For example, employees tend to live near to their workplace for ease of travel and these rents could be higher then usual, could save living in their home. Additionally, people can spend quality time with their family improving their bond between their loved ones. Moreover wfh could improve regular eating habits and there by contributing to improved heath conditions.
Despite these benefits, people staying at home may lead to increase in unemployment. Low usage of public transport, cabs and metros could make less people required to operate and manage them which could lead to less workers required then usual. In addition, people spending less could make the economy weaker and there by the county could go into recession. For example, people staying at home could decrease revenue for business like restaurants, shopping malls, movie theaters.
In conclusion, while having WFH would be cost efficient and improve flexibility, it could be a reason for less job growth and weaker economy.
