Unhealthy lifestyle in modern era has given rise to the ever-increasing number of health issues which can no longer be cured by modern medications. In view of this, more and more people advocate a recourse to alternative treatments. I am of the opinion that traditional remedies have a greater capacity for treating patients afflicted with incurable illnesses.
To begin with, herbal treatments are featured for their ability to stabilize hormones and metabolism, which is appropriate for complicated diseases. Unlike synthetic compounds, natural medications lay great emphasis on the interconnectivity of every organ and offer treatment to the whole body. Though it will take more time to see the results, it is suitable for curing terminal health problems due to the lack of severe side effects. It is of no rare occurrence to see patients who are put on a very long course of antibiotics are susceptible to organ damages, whereas people who are meditated with natural pharmaceuticals need not worry about liver’s heatiness or side effects due to the mild and gradual effect of botanicals. Therefore, not only the so-called “incurable” diseases can be treated but patients’ immune systems will be boosted overall.
Some people may argue that natural pharmaceuticals do not rely on any basis, making them appear as palliative treatments. However, the incorporation of plants and botanicals into medical practices actually originated from the Yin Yang theory, which have long enjoyed great popularity in Eastern countries, with China being the prime example. Yin Yang philosophy focuses on maintaining the balance of body and mind, with Yin representing liver, heart, spleen, lungs and kidneys while Yang is associated with stomach, intestine, gallbladder, and urinary bladder. Depending on each state of imbalance, which is excess of Yin, excess of Yang, deficiency of Yin, or deficiency of Yang, medical practitioners will prescribe appropriate herbs to help recover the balance state. Therefore, perceiving alternative remedies as baseless is not correct at all.
To recapitulate, traditional medications have paved the way for curing terminal illnesses emerging in the contemporary age due to their lack of severe damages and the potential to get to the ground of chronic health problems.
