Many people believe that the increased amount of violence in our society stems from the youth who are influenced by the amount of violence shown on TV and in the cinema. This essay strongly agrees with this opinion, as many entertainment industries tend to tie violence along with heroic achievements. This problem can be reduced by bringing strict censoring regulations, and including content which also conveys the repercussions of violent behaviour.
One of the main reasons why young people adopt abhorrent behaviour is the way violence is presented in movies and tv shows. The screenplay is often driven from the perspective of the main protagonist, and any behaviour displayed by the character is assumed to be right. Consequently, the violence and malpractices performed by the person gets translated into acceptable behaviour in the minds of young people. This way, the youth sort to unethical practices themselves and end up in trouble in real life. For example, most movies focus on heroic moments and do not include the aftermath of their unlawful actions, leaving the audience unaware of the legal problems which follow.
The increasing violent nature of adolescents can be reduced by imposing strict censoring regulations. When people see less negative content, it automatically results in reduced negative thinking and people lean towards practical solutions instead of violence. Furthermore, mass media can play a significant role by including more content which reflects the results of violence. Improving awareness on the repercussions of destructive behaviour can deter the young adults from such bad practices. For example, recently, many movies also touch upon the active criminal laws wherever violence is involved.
In conclusion, violent content in mass media has profound impact in the society. Young adults get easily influence by showing violent content in the good light. This can be reduced by bringing strict censoring laws and increasing awareness on the result of violent behaviour. It is imperative to take necessary measures to retain the peace and harmony of the society.
