Even though I have already received the full-scholarship offers from HKU, I would also like to apply for the Belt and Road scholarship for the privilege that comes with the scholarship. According to my high school counselor, “Belt and Road” programme not only provides fundings, but the programme also offers the opportunity to be able to meet the scholarship sponsors. Since my programme choice will most likely be a “Science Master Class”, thus it is most likely that after graduation I will be working on research projects. I am highly passionate about mathematics, that is why the HKU intensive mathematics programme suits me the best. I desire to shape my mathematical works to be a solution to real world problems, making them practical. Assuming that I receive the scholarship, I would work hard in researching applicable projects to add value to my own worth in the perspective of the sponsors.
Previously, I mentioned increasing my worth while doing undergraduate study; therefore, I want to present my current skills that will illustrate my worth as of today. Regarding the research life I wanted to pursue, I had also been researching in 2 projects during my high school years. The biggest research project I have put my best effort in was TTEPS: Transpiration and Transportation driven Electrokinetic Power Source. Ultimately, the paper is published in the SPC E-proceedings of the 19th Siam Physics Congress in 2024. Next is my second 5 members project, the Blindmi, navigator in infrastructures for those with visual impairments. We concluded the project after we received the 30000 baht prize as the first runner-up in the Hackable, a hackathon with the purpose of creating a disability aid tool. However, neither of these projects are directly in the field of mathematics. Those are physics and computer science projects respectively. But here, my contribution relies heavily on mathematics because my works are to create mathematical structures that are suitable for their purposes. Just as I have described the kind of mathematical research I want to conduct.
I can ensure that if I have received the opportunity to meet the scholarship sponsors, I would do my best to form connections with them, increasing the chances of collaboration slightly. During high school, I also have experienced instances that require the skills to align perfectly with the hypothetical situation I wrote. In 2022, when I was appointed as the director of the school festival promotion video due to being a member of the event organizing committee within the student committee. Since it was my first semester at the time, the task is highly challenging for me personally. Thus, I built up the courage to pitch the ideas in front of the student council with the help of my colleagues in the event organizing committee, and the production was successfully uploaded. Similar to the story, I will take a chance to pitch my project ideas to the sponsors to gain financial support and collaborations.
