Band 8+: The arts, including art, music and theatre are considered to be important in society. Do you think the arts still have a place amongst our modern lifestyles? Should the arts be included in the school curriculum?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Society often argues about the importance of art’s place in modern lifestyles, including music and theatre. Some people believe that art is less relevant in the world of technological improvements, while others think that it still plays a pivotal role. This essay will discuss, firstly, the prominence of the arts in modern lifestyles, and secondly, why art should continue in the school curriculum.

Artworks show contemporary relevance in the world of digital entertainment since society still continues to admire visual artworks in museums and performing arts in theaters. Initially, art is the language of globalization because creative expressions allow society to understand conditions and events from every corner of the world. Even though the possibility of learning about cultures, politics or history through art performances regardless of language barriers. Creative expressions, including performances, paintings, music, poetry, etc, are easy to perceive through visual representation. For instance, through the examination of paintings or watching traditional theatre performances, individuals can perceive information about traditions and lifestyles of different cultures or know current situations in political situations, which helps to gain a broader perspective.

Including art-related curriculum in school educational systems advances children’s personal growth, which develops creative and critical thinking. By attending art subjects including dancing, drawing, sculpture and animation, youngsters will use imagination and freely express their thoughts and feelings. The aforementioned skills would help to increase self-confidence, communication skills and emotional intelligence, which are required by many companies these days. Moreover, an art-related curriculum is helpful in finding one’s own path in the choice of specializations, which can contribute to the development of local culture by preparing future generations in the creative industry such as graphic designers, actors and filmmakers, etc. As a result, children will find it easier to build a successful career in the future.

To conclude, the arts continue to occupy a significant place in individuals’ modern lifestyles, providing educational access to gain a broader perspective about history, politics and culture without a language barrier. I believe that art should be included in the school curriculum as they develop creative thinking and allows one to find their own path in choosing a job.
