In recent years the importance of art in modern society has become a topic of widespread discussion. Some people hold the view that it doesn’t make sense in our modern lifestyle. From my perspective, the arts still play a crucial role in our lives, providing education and preserving our history. Therefore, including them in the school curriculum is important for future generations.
Despite the rapid development of digital technologies and AI that are capable of creating pictures, songs or other forms of art in minutes, real art cannot be replaced completely. Not only art is entertainment, but it also holds symbolic meaning for every nation and for the whole society. For instance, my country has a wide range of historical architecture that now serves as museums and places for exhibitions. From one building, such as the Moscow Kremlin, people can learn many facts about the history of Russia, its culture and nation.
To that end, the arts should become an integral part of the education system. Adding art lessons to the school curriculum broadens students’ horizons and changes their way of thinking. Specifically, the arts frequently make students explore our world and society from a different angle. They can learn about important historical events through masterpieces of famous artists or musicians, not from history books. Therefore, the arts substantially contribute to students’ cultural and historical development.
After all things considered, the arts will not lose their meaning even in modern lifestyle and changing standards. For this reason, it is essential to preserve, making art lessons a part of school curriculum.
