In recent years, the level of air contamination has significantly increased causing severe consequences both for the environment and public health, which involves the emissions of air pollutants.
One of the main causes of air pollution, is natural disasters such as forest fires and volcanic eruptions that deteriorates the air quality. Wildfires, which release large amount of toxic gases, carbon monoxide and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere has a potential to contaminate the air. Furthermore, volcanic eruptions, which emit ash, sulfur dioxide and other toxic gases also contributes to air pollution and can cause breathing problems. Not only natural disasters, but also human caused emissions that exacerbates this problem. Due to the rapid development of industry and agriculture, many companies and factories burn fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas to produce energy, which significantly contributes to air pollution by releasing large amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. What makes it more polluted, is the daily use of transportation such as cars, trucks, buses and airplanes that also produces exhaust fumes that contain harmful gases. All of the mentioned factors that causes air pollution gradually damaging the environment and public health that can be evolved into a long-term implications.
To truly address these issues, the government should regularly check companie’s emissions and impose several regulations to them. Such regulations would help not to exacerbate the problem of air pollution, and improve the quality of air. Since most of the transports emit exhaust fumes it is necessary to use alternative modes of transport such as bike, walk, carpool or public transport to mitigate air pollution. By choosing these options, people can make a huge difference and help to maintain a sustainable environment. Moreover, authorities should plant new trees to forests, which helps to absorb carbon dioxide. By doing these, I believe that we can make a huge difference to our planet.
In conclusion, while air contamination still remains a world-wide problem and has a detrimental impact on public health, it could be effectively addressed through
enforcing and maintaining these environmental laws, by regulating and providing useful alternatives for companies and public.
