Many individuals have been left pondering of their life paths, what would happen, what could be changed, if it could even be changed. This is the ongoing debate between freewill and the predetermined fate. Personally, I concur with the notion that we are born with the freedom to make our own decisions and that there are no such things such as fate, simply because the human life is ridden with problems that can be overcome and utilizing the correct mindset.
First and foremost, no individual has had a problem-free life ever. Since we are only humans, we are bound to make mistakes. Life can throw anything at us without a moment notice. But have these circumstances ever forbidden anyone from overcoming them? No, there are plenty of individuals who have overcome their fate, and do what others previously believed they couldn’t. For instance, one of many examples include Martin Luther King Jr. who is an activist against racial segregation. He was faced with countless oppositions from those who hold conservative views on racial segregation. But he had never bowed down to them. He fought for the rights of black people which paved the way for a unified world. Hence, it is well within our choices to fight for our lives or to bow down to fate.
Another compelling argument which supports my claim is the trump card known as “mindset”. Whilst there are many who have led difficult lives among things outside of their control such as war or disabilities, not everyone of them gave up entirely on themselves. It all comes down on their internal battle, whether to suffer from their shortcomings or to overcome them. Many have fought for the independence and liberty of their home country despite overwhelming oppositions. Moreover, there are those who was born with disabilities that have learned to accept them and still continue to live, nevertheless. Some have even become athlete in their own field. However, if they had chosen to suffer from their own circumstances instead, then their lives wouldn’t have come so far. Thus, with the correct mindset, we can change the course of our lives for the better.
To conclude, I do not believe in predetermined fate, because our lives are the result of every choice we make. We can choose to overcome the obstacles that life throws at us. We can choose to suffer from our own shortcomings or overcome them. Therefore, we can decide our own fate.
