In some parts of the world, the population of today’s time is increasingly being dominated by the younger generation, leaving the older population to decrease. While this situation can lead to certain drawbacks, I believe that the merits greatly outweigh them.
With fewer elders, important history can be forgotten. Some of the most significant events from the past are passed down from older people to younger ones. Moreover, learning history is a vital aspect in both individual and societal growth. For example, stories from wars and disease breakouts are used today in order to prevent it from happening again. When historical background of significant events are forgotten it is highly possible for people to make the same mistakes from the past.
Nevertheless, a large number of young adults can be advantageous for the society. As it has been observed, the majority of the working population are young people. They become the driving force of the economy. For instance, people commonly retire when they reach a certain age. With a smaller number of old people, the number of employees rises leading to economical growth. Furthermore, in contemporary times, scientific advancements have made the younger generations leaders of the future. This is due to the fact that young adults are adaptable to change and tech-savvy. Leaders of today and in the future requires expertise on technology, which young people have.
In conclusion, although having fewer aged people can make important historical events insignificant, the benefits to the society and economy supersede the disadvantages. With that, educational institutes should teach crucial historical events that have shaped today’s world.
