Millions of people worldwide are suffering from being overweight, and this leads to obesity, which has become a global concern. In fact, obesity ranks in the top 10 as the world’s deadliest causes. It is very common in developed countries like the Western region, the European Union, and all over Asia. Overweight happens due to a lack of exercise and/or an uncontrolled diet (eating junk/fast food regularly). If people have not changed their habits, it will lead to severe consequences in the future, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases (e.g., cardiac arrest), or high blood pressure.
There are several factors that might affect humanity’s tendency to become overweight, for instance, genetics, lack of physical fitness, unhealthy food, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Sometimes, people usually exceed the proportion of eating unhealthy food, fast foods, soda drinks (100 PLUS, Coca-Cola, Sprite), and lower the amount of health-giving food, which will impact their health. Usually, this group of the community has an insufficient portion of vitamins, minerals, fruits, vegetables, and proteins, instead of this, they are eating more fat and junk foods. Furthermore, being fit is vital for humanity to stay healthier and live a longer life expectancy. However, there are certain individuals who are lazy and sit in front of a screen for 24 hours a day, holding a snack box and not even moving around from place to place, which will easily increase their body weight. Indeed, those unhealthy habits like smoking and/or drinking alcohol will affect the human body by causing overweight, cancers, and lung disease (asthma). It is noticeable that smokers face challenges to walk or run on a street due to insufficient carbon dioxide exhaled out of the body and more oxygen inhaled into the nose, so the inhaled air will be stored inside the body without exhaling, which leads to overweight.
Many methods can prevent the risk of obesity. This group of the community has to be strict and maintain a balanced diet, meaning that all of these nutrients; carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, vitamins, fruits, vegetables, and fats must be eaten in the correct level by sharing them per day. Also, regular exercise can be one of the factors that can reduce body weight by being consistent for a certain period. Conversely, individuals should avoid or stop those unhealthy habits like smoking or drinking, which will reduce the chances of becoming overweight as well.
