Education is a blessing to which men were given access to earlier than women. Men were encouraged to enroll in courses and study way before women were given the same opportunity. Thus, even to date many subjects and fields are still dominated by men.
Education is one of the most crucial elements in our life which in most cases would also determine the quality of life we are going to experience. So, I believe that universities accepting equal number of students in every subject will encourage women to come forward and pursue subjects without prior hesitation.
Women should have the right to the same sources of knowledge as men in the subjects they are interested in. There are still some fields like Mechanics, Aviation, Civil Engineering where women are not yet fully trusted, so universities following this policy would encourage the women aspirers to register for these domains and also elevate the sense of belonging in the coursework. An increase in the number of female enrollees will also add to the diversity in the classroom bringing in broader range perspectives during discussions. For instance, after increasing the number of seats for girls in the IITs there was an increase in the number of female students taking up Engineering in IITs as women now felt more encouraged to take up these courses which were mostly filled with men in the past.
In conclusion, I believe that universities implementing this regulation would encourage girls to enroll in courses of their liking, promote gender balance in classrooms, enhance the sense of belonging in the female students, and broaden the perspectives in discussions.
