It is said that boxing is an inapposite sport in this modern world due to its hazard that might cause wounds and even bleed for participants. Personally, I partly disagree with this school of thought based on some reasons that are elucidated in this essay.
On the one hand, Boxing has earned a reputation as a violent activity while today’s society tends to emphasize peaceful cooperation, solidarity and team spirit. This fighting game might cause serious damage to the health of participants. Moreover, boxing or any strength sports can be misused by some harmful individuals, which increases the rate of violence in society. Therefore, opting for other healthy sports such as jogging, cycling, swimming or other team sports will avoid health risks and bring better safety to both individuals and society.
On the other hand, Boxing is a hobby of some groups of people, especially those who are passionate about strength. And there is no negating that these are all their decisions. People participating in this sport take risks about their own health to satisfy their personal interests. Additionally, Boxing is one of the most popular in the sports industry around the world. There are many competitions held for this activity, this is an unparalleled opportunity for participants to show off their strength and training efforts. Individuals are also appealed to competitions because of the lucrative financial incentives it offers.
In conclusion, despite boxing being a hazardous and risky sport, the autonomy of athletes to choose their participation should not be overlooked. Hence, I still partially disagree with the opinion of dismissing this sport.
