Nowadays, there is contentious debate about large companies relocating to rural areas. Many people think the authorities should give incentives regarding large companies relocating from metropolitan areas to rural areas. In my opinion, its merits outweigh the demerits.
Regarding the merits, many people who support pointview provide some benefits. Firstly, large companies moving to the countryside can help reduce significant costs involving premises, and hire workers which are really higher in the metropolitan sites. Secondly, this relocation addresses various problems which are caused by urbanization. It is because the rural areas are the best place to expand infrastructure and an essential solution to reduce some current issues such as overcrowding, pollution and traffic congestion. In addition, relocating business creates conditions of local community development. An explanation for this is that they contribute to local economies, create jobs, internet access, transportations and other public services.
On the other hand, there are some demerits. The main drawback is costly business. Due to their location, they need a large amount of money to build new infrastructure such as facilities, transport systems and business complexes to adapt to the new environment. Rural areas are caused to increase costs involving distribution of products and logistics. Another drawback is the different working culture. The employees are not familiar with the new working environment and organized culture which lead to disruption of their business. Next, the countryside has a limited market size to compare with metropolitan areas. It may impact on the sales volume of companies because the rural sites have demand and consumption under average rate which reduces access to their potential consumers.
In conclusion, relocation of industries and businesses have merits outweigh the demerits. While there are a lot of benefits such as reducing operational cost, addressing some problems of urbanization, and creating opportunities for local community development; there are some drawbacks involving costly business, different working culture and incompetitve market. Therefore, I think the authorities should implement policies to encourage industries and businesses to move to the countryside.
