Over the past thirty years, there has been a significant rise in car ownership which means that a few metropolitan/major cities have been under traffic congestions for the past 30 years. A social status, which makes many people seek and buy cars, is one of the major issues to traffic. With higher quality of public transportation, governments can make people use it much more.
On the one hand, as the consequence of a social status, which individuals consider as a part of their life, people tend to purchase excessively. People who do not want to look fall behind are more prone to spent money on excessive items such as cars. As a result, a number of cars in a city cause a great deal of traffic. Many cars on the road make it much tougher to run them even sometimes there is observed some serious road crashes. Furthermore, huge traffic congestions can have a significant drawback in the city infrastructure and environment. For instance, the one problem caused by traffic is air pollution which makes city population become afraid of place they live.
To tackle this problem, initially governments should allocate funds in the public transportation especially underground as usually individuals drive a car or take a taxi to reach their destinations faster. People want spacious seat while commuting to work or school. Additionally, from a financial standpoint, using the public transportation can be more affordable due to the fact that many drivers spent a huge amount of money on fuel. Therefore, governments ought to concentrate on improving the condition and the size of public means. Moreover, by reducing the age of the driving license we can reduce owning a car as nowadays every mature person wants to drive a car or have a car for even entertainment.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that the growth in traffic is a major issue. Although traffic jams has increased significantly, By improving the public transportation this problem is possible to be solved.
