Many people argue that children do not respect their parents as much as they did in the past. This behavior is now having a negative impact on society. I completely agree with this statement and want to enlighten it with few examples.
In the past, the resources of entertainment were very limited, thus families were closely knit and children used to spend most of their time together with their elders, resulting in learning the etiquettes and moral values from them. On the contrary, due to abundance of entertainment and social networking platforms, the children individually spend most of their time separately, which reduces the cohesion and bond in the family. As a result, they start to feel alone and insensitive, resulting in several psychological disorders in an alarmingly early age. The cases of depression in younger generation are increasing every day and this is not a good sign for the society.
The kids in the past could not think of questioning their parents out of respect and moral values. However, the today’s generation is majorly prejudiced by the western countries, thus they unknowingly develop a sense of independence and arrogance in themselves, resulting in questioning and disrespecting their elders. Subsequently, they unknowingly start disrespecting and questioning the authorities in their professional and social lives, resulting in grave negative consequences and altercations. Such absurd behaviour overall disturbs the harmony and cohesion in the society.
In conclusion, the children should restrain their usage of online platforms and learn the importance of mutual respect and moral values from their elders to reduce the negative effects on the society.
