Although people said that children are not a blank paper that one could ‘write’ on it, to know what is right and what is wrong from young age is essential for attitude building in their life. In this essay, I will argue the reason why I believe it is important for children to distinguish the good and the bad since they were kids, and two good punishments should be given to teach them the difference.
Knowing the difference between good and bad is necessary for young children to have a good attitude. Children used to make mistakes because they do not know that what they did is a mistake, so that they must be taught by parents. Some kids might beat their siblings or even punch their parents when something does not go like what they want. Such act must be eliminated in early stage of children’s life due to its bad effects of getting worse when they grow up. If the children were taught to be more compassion to each other from young age, they will foster this behaviour of respect and that might become their habit.
Parents must choose a right punishment to treat children when they make a fault, in order to guide their beloved one in a right way. Hard punishment such as spank does not suit, not only because children’s body are vulnerable that it can cause serious injury, but also make them tend to resist to the violent. Softer punishment such as kneels, and at the same time, encourage them to say sorry and promise to never repeat that mistake is more suitable, since it does not cause any harm but quite effective to help them to realize and regret what they have done.
To conclude, it is vital for young children to know the difference between benign and detrimental behaviour. It helps them to foster a good manner with the assist from old man by giving a constructive sanction to their children. In my view, the sooner the children learn to separate good and bad behaviour, the better the attitude they bear when they grow up.
