It becomes common for businesses to spend millions of dollars in marketing to convince consumers to purchase their goods. Although it can inform about promotions and bargains, there are more setbacks because it can lead to unnecessary spending.
People gain things by bargain through effective marketing techniques. By watching TV or listening radio, it can easily be spotted any promotions in a specific shop. In other words, most adults often buy expensive things during a big sale such as 75% or 50% discount. This can really save a huge amount of money and obtain very good quality product. For example, most women buy luxury cosmetic products in Sephora when there has mid-year sale or year-end sale. However, these promotions are unlikely to happen frequently so I believe that the benefits are not sustainable.
On the other hand, the advertisements can often encourage spending on unessential things. This is because ads convey subliminal message and the main purpose of them is to persuade people to make a purchase of the products or services. As a result, people become consumer and purchasing one that is unneeded which can upset individual’s budget. For instance, many persons exchange with or buy a brand new model of Iphone. Apparently most of them don’t need that high-end phone for their jobs or can afford by themselves, but they are buying it because of effective advertising that featuring the image of glamour and luxury. Therefore, I am of the opinion that these over-spent commercials have too many disadvantages.
In conclusion, although it can provide information about sales and bargains by investing millions of dollars in advertising, it can lead to over spend on inessential thing because of persuasive ads. For these reasons, the negatives far outnumber the positives.
