Since the last decade art has gone beyond the galleries and began to cover the streets through graffiti. However, some think that graffiti might be banned, meanwhile others want the cities to assign special places to develop this type of art, which I agree with.
Many citizens express their disappointment towards graffiti and want to ban it from cities. They believe that graffiti is not art, and just damages the street walls producing sight contamination; moreover, it makes the streets look dirty and dangerous. That is why some citizens want to ban graffity. An example of this is the situation on the wall of the street in front of the Biblioteca Nacional in Bogotá, Colombia. At this point there was a big graffiti about the government repression in 2021, but many people said that it was horrible and wanted to replace it with plants to make the city look beautiful.
In contrast, many people, including me, look right to assign places for graffiti. There is awareness about the different art expressions and the city appearance, for that, they do not put one above the other, but look for harmony co-existence for both of them by assigning places for graffiti caring about the aspect of the city. For example, in Bogotá, Colombia there is a special place for graffiti called Distrito Graffiti where many walls are devoted to it and murals. That is a famous place and now people can visit such a place to admire the art of graffiti.
In conclusion, in spite of some inhabitants searching for the criminalisation of the art, others want a harmony between the art and the order in the cities.
