Some individuals argue that it is better to give longer imprisonment to reduce illegality while others believe that there are more beneficial ways to diminish criminality. I personally think that it would be better if government applied other kinds of sentencing.
On the one hand, many people support the idea of incarcerating criminals, because they think that it can reduce the number of criminals from in the community. To be more precise , imprisonment physically restricts offenders from committing further crimes in society who might disturb ordinary citizens.For example, in England there is a rule which every person who are going to break the regulations get long-term confinement. Furthermore,another reason is that imprisonment serves as a form of justice by punishing criminals appropriately.That is to say, victims feel fairness when perpetrators get serious sentence like prolonged incarceration. For instance, in many murder situation, the families of the victims express a sense of consolation and justice when the offender receives a lengthy prison sentence.Thus,people say that prolonged imprisonment is the way of being fair to all people, proving it to be most effective measure to take.
On the other hand, some people believe that criminals should be punished in other ways.Namely, these people think that it would be better if convicts were given social opportunities. Such as, giving educational, working opportunities,assisting in environmental projects. And another reason why some think that there are more effective techniques is that there might not be any result from extended prison term. They think that abusers may continue to break laws even after long imprisonment. For example,some prisoners might return to illegal acts like pickpocketing,burglary, breaching minor rules. Therefore, some firmly support the way of exploiting other sanctions to reduce criminalities. And also, I agree with these people.
To sum up, there are people who stand for the fact of giving extended incarceration while others believe that authorities should employ other effective alternatives to prevent increasing criminalities. From my poin of view, I agree whith the following statement.
