There is an ongoing debate over whether schools should focus on academic subjects or teach practical life skills (such as communication, budgeting and teamwork). Some people argue that children should pursue their academic studies at school to get better employment opportunities, while others believe they should to learn practical life skills. I believe that both education and life skills are curcial for children’s lives.
The reason why children should focus on their study at school is that they can broaden their worldview and improve their knowledge. Government school, education is main goal, give an opportunity to study university with grant. If pupils study hard at school and learn all subjects they need, they get an opportunity to improve their skills and get certificates. This is particularly beneficial for children who are lazy and indiscipline. Getting certificates take at least 3 months. For example, if pupils take four certificates in subjects, they get an access to study university without taking any exams.
Learning practical life skills at schools help them to manage their money, cooperating and communicating. These skills are in demand in the future. This is particularly beneficial for children who have a stong desire to be businessman or businesswoman. At school, teacher should teach them through seperating into groups or making an competitions among children. Competitions helps children to work collaboratively, as well as improve participant’s communication.
To conclude, although pupils should focus on their academic career at school, these practical life skills are also should be teached. I believe by striking a balance between two aspects, schools can better prepare young people for the challenges and better employment opportunities
