When I read the cue card, the first situation reminds me of the time when I did a group assignment with my friends from secondary school. If I remember accurately, it took two hours. And two main characters in this story namely Duyen and Van. At the time, Duyen and Van were teammates. They had an argument because Duyen backbited Van by saying that Van was lazy and didn’t focus too much on teamwork.
Van felt frustrated and upset because of Duyen’s behaviour. I mean that instead of talking directly to Van about her concerns, Duyen chose to express her feelings to others behind Van’s back.
When Van found out about this, she felt deeply hurt and betrayed. This caused tension and misunderstandings between them, leading to an argument about trust, respect, and the importance of clear communication in a team. Eventually, Duyen apologized for backbiting and acknowledged that she should have addressed the issue directly with Van. Both of them realized that honest and respectful communication is essential to maintain a healthy friendship and work effectively together.
I felt really let down when I heard about what happened between Duyen and Van. Finding out that someone has talked behind your back is always painful, especially when it’s a close friend or teammate. I strongly believe that your grievances could be expressed directly which was an effective method to strengthen good relationships. Honest communication plays a key to keep friendships and avoid unnecessary drama.
