In my opinion, society exists primarily to help people, as its purpose is to create a framework that allows individuals to thrive and achieve their full potential. While people contribute to society and play a role in its development, the ultimate goal of any society should be to improve the lives of its members.
Firstly, societies are formed to address the needs and challenges of individuals. For example, governments, laws, and institutions are established to provide security, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. These systems ensure that people can live safer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. Without these structures, individuals would face significant difficulties in achieving their goals and protecting their rights.
Moreover, the progress of society is often measured by how well it improves the well-being of its members. Indicators such as life expectancy, literacy rates, and access to basic services show that society’s role is to create an environment where individuals can succeed. If people exist solely to serve society, it could lead to exploitation, where the needs of individuals are sacrificed for collective goals, which I believe is neither ethical nor sustainable.
That said, people do have responsibilities toward society. By contributing through work, innovation, and social interaction, individuals help strengthen the community and ensure its survival. However, this contribution is meaningful only when society reciprocates by improving individual lives. For instance, people pay taxes to support public services, but in return, they benefit from infrastructure, education, and safety.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that society exists to help people, as its primary function is to enhance the quality of life for individuals. While individuals have duties toward society, these efforts should ultimately serve the purpose of creating a better and more supportive environment for everyone.
