It is often argued that full-time university students who spend a lot of time studying should participate in other activities too. While some people believe that this would affect their academic performance, I completely agree with this view for several reasons.
To begin with, one of the primary reasons why I support this position is that it would help students to develop other important skills in addition to their studies. This is mainly because participating in out-of-university activities such as MUNs, debates, clubs would allow them to gain more experience. As a result, it would be much easier to work in a real job after graduating from university. As an example, a friend of mine who was studying at New York University started participating in other activities in the middle of the second year of study, which made it much simpler for him to work at a big company afterwards.
Furthermore, another compelling reason is that it would prevent mental burnout and reduce stress. In other words, it would improve students’ overall academic focus and mental well-being. This can clearly be seen in situations where participating in some activities made it easier for students to deal with upcoming assignments.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that students should participate in other activities besides university studies because it helps them develop important life skills and allows them to not get tired of studying.
