Nowadays, the number of crimes is increasing rapidly in the globe. There are many reasons behind it and I will discuss them and try to explain some alternative ways to combat the problem.
The most commonly cited reason for doing a crime is connected with the economic situations of individuals. In more detail, today people are suffering from high rates of unemployment and increased prices of all commodities and government taxes. Given the introduction of machines in all industries, people started losing their jobs globally resulting in poverty rates. As a consequence, those people who are not able to afford their livings started to break the law in order to feed their family in most cases. However worrying this situation is, governments are able to find solutions to reduce the crime as long as they take immediate actions.
Admittedly, governments are working to fight against the crime passively, however, there are some effective methods to reduce the illegal actions of people. In other words, authorities should understand that people always feel free to break the law if the punishment is not strict enough. Historically we can assume that in those countries, in which the governments made laws strict and followed the policy of zero tolerance, people enjoyed the crimeless society. Take Arabic countries for example, they still follow their strict rules and cut the robbers hand and they have a right to sentence some serious criminals to death.
To conclude, whereas there are many reasons why people commit crimes, I personally believe that governments can stop these problems by introducing methods which are successfully being conducted by developed and crime free countries.
