The issue that every government should subsidize free medical services for residents has emerged as a controversial topic these days. From my perspective, there are both advantages and disadvantages of this trend.
On the one hand, there are two major benefits when the government provides healthcare services for its people. The primary advantage is that the majority of inhabitants could have access to medical services without any costs. To be more specific, they do not need to pay an excessive amount of money to get medical treatment thanks to the government’s support. Therefore, they might save money to cover living and other expenses. Additionally, the free medical system encourages people to become more health – conscious and have regular check – ups. Thus, it can raise the overall public health as a whole. And looking further, when the most of residents are healthy, country could have developed strongly numerous other aspects including economics, politics and society, etc
On the other hand, I would contend that there are more significant drawbacks of the phenomenon of the government providing free healthcare. Firstly, the disadvantage of such an issue is the financial burden on the government as well as its citizens. Specifically, the government would spend a huge number of national budgets coming from people’s taxes to invest in healthcare, which means that there are not enough budgets to support the other fields. Also, citizens may have to work even harder to pay off the huge tax payments. Secondly, more and more private healthcare services companies have difficulty in developing and competing with state – owned medical institutions. Because of being utilized by the state medical service, people might pay less attention to private medical institutions leading to inefficient operations and perhaps bankruptcy.
In conclusion, I am convinced that the free medical system plays a vital role in modern society. Although it brings several benefits for citizens, it may cause many serious drawbacks.
