It is commonly believed that parents should beat children to prevent misbehaving in the future. I disagree that smacking is a good way to teach or punish, because this can cause mental disorders or other worse consequences. Additionally, there are other alternatives, such as discussing or doing practices.
Punishing children with physical strength can cause bad consequences. This consequence can be mental health problems. Children are good at memorizing things, especially things and emotions that their parents do. If a child is faced with regular smackings, he can gain anxiety, stress and even depression because of the fear of making mistakes. As a result, this method will not positively shape well-behaved children. Instead, it creates hypocritical individuals who act good in front of their parents while doing bad things in society.
Another reason why I disagree is better alternatives. Beating is not an accurate strategy in shaping well-behaved children, because simple talks or practices are better as a result. Children can be afraid of showing their emotions or being not always good, because if they act out, their parents can smack them. Instead, it is better for parents to spend several hours working with their child, discussing basic rules and giving basic concepts of what is good and what is bad. Building trust and good relationships can influence better law-abiding youth.
In conclusion, I strongly oppose the view that a lack of corporal punishment is responsible for youth offense. In contrast, a positive relationship between parents and children can have a much better impact on the future behavior of the individuals.
