Nowadays, many youngsters are spending more time on smartphones and other electronic devices and as a result, this can reduce their interest in physical activities. In addition, this kind of lifestyle can cause many health problems such as obesity and heart disease. In my opinion, guardians and the government tend to play a vital role to tackle these problems.
With the development of technology, many people seem to try to maintain the balance between life and job, especially the younger ones, who intend to be top students or great trainees in their society. As a consequence, young people probably assume that they have many things to do rather than exercising for their health. In addition, almost every sport like soccer, baseball and tennis can be played as video games on touch-screen phones and tablets easily, which seem to act like real-world sports with virtual touch. For that reason, they might focus on other activities and seem to neglect the physical and mental benefits of participating in sports.
When it comes to encountering these problems, the most effective way always comes from not only guiding but modelling youths from their parents and community with the support from the government. Firstly, parents should lead by doing some sports like running or cycling and reveal that it can improve their physical and mental well-being. Then, let their kids know themselves about the positive impact of doing physical exercises for mental and physical health. By doing so, it can somehow encourage the children with their own curiosity about exercising rather than spending time with smartphones or other electronic gadgets. Secondly, the government can provide sports equipment in public parks to increase the exposure of young generations to physical exercises. For example, in Japan, the government provides healthy lifestyles by equipping free public sports facilities and promoting community fitness campaigns to encourage people, especially for young people to stay active.
In conclusion, the decrease in participation of sports activities among young people is a major issue that needs to be solved immediately. Thus, with the support from their guardians and government, young generations can recognize the beneficial impact of sports and seem to lessen the health problems.
