Over the course of last decades, the world has faced various environmental issues, and global warming is one of them. There are several reasons behind this life-threatening phenomenon that should be mitigated by the joint effort of both governments and the public.
Unfortunately, due to the human’s reckless exploitation of natural resources, the globe is getting warmer and warmer gradually. Firstly, the high level of CO2 emitted to the atmosphere, is making a big hole on the ozone layer. If this layer tears up, all the species will die out instantly. The greenhouse gases are often derived from burning fossil fuels that are used in our daily activities. Secondly, deforestation and desertification is another root cause of global warming. In other words, owing to an infinite need of land for making houses and roads, individuals ruin forests and cut trees inconsiderably. Gone are the days when countries were full of jungles with a wide range of plants, modern cities are filled with skyscrapers and big buildings. New York is a tangible example, in a city with more than 16 million populations, there is just a few small parks.
In order to address this problem some measures should be taken for the common good. not only are the governments required to raise the public’s awareness but also are supposed to introduce legislations on environmentally-damaging actions. For instance, states must provide a well-rounded education about protecting environment for youngsters at schools. Moreover, cleaner source of energy like solar or wind and energy should replace fossil fuels as soon as possible.
In summary, human activities are deterring the environment significantly. Although taking efforts to alleviate global warming may appear challenging at first, it is not impossible.
