In modern times, many people think that government should invest money in public services instead of sports. From my perspective, sport is truly essential and investing in it can play a huge role in developing countries.
There are several reasons why I would disagree that government investment in sports is a waste of money. Firstly, investing in sports contributes to economic growth which means creating new opportunities for jobs and boosting tourism. For instance, in 2022, Qatar was engaged in preparing the world’s cup, the presence of people was remarkable, and the profit of event was high.
Secondly, sports have a major role in building strong community and youth development where it can bring people together to learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership and especially time management. It also fosters the sense of unity and social cohesion.
Finally, I believe that sport could enhance the reputation of the country as we can see now many developed countries invest a lot in tennis and football and they bring the best players to the team just to gain profit and be known all over the world. For example, in my country we don’t invest in sports because they don’t have the money instead of that they prioritize enhancing public services.
To conclude, investing in sports is not a waste of money, it’s a strategy of win-win. Perhaps it leads to numerous advantages like economic growth, building community and enhancing reputation.
