Band 5+: Government should tax unhealthy food to encourage people to eat healthier do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Human need food to alive, so this is the most valuable thing for them. Healthy or unhealthy food options are always debatable with its postive and negative impact on health and other factors. Some proponents may agree with this argument that government should increase tax on unhealthy food to encourage people to eat healthier. However others may reject this notion. In my openion the latter proposition appears to be more rational. This essay will elaborate both views and thus lead to a logical conclusion.

Additional tax on unhealthy food can not gurantee to reduce its consumption. For instance, alcohol and ciggerrates’ consumption are increasing every year even after applying maximum tax. Additionaly, higher cost may attract people considering it a symbol of status in society. Thus, adding tax does not encourage people to eat healthier.

However, on the other side, there are myriad of ways to encourage people to eat healthier, one of the most preponderant one is to motivate them with awareness. Awareness program can be advocated to industries and educational places strictly so that they conduct it regulary for their employees and pupils. People use to adopt changes with out significant resistance what they repeatedly see and hear.

In conclusion, increasing tax does not sufficient to encourage people to eat healthier. According to me, It might cause of some other nuance as well. I think make them aware of the consequences of regular consuming of unhealthy food would be right way to encourage them to eat healthy and be fit as a fiddle.
