It is argued that residents should have the obligation to preserve their own surroundings. From my perspective, I firmly agree with this viewpoint.
To begin with, requiring people to care for their settings is justified due to the benefits that they reap. The primitive environment was harmonious, with various creatures cohabiting peacefully and sustainably with each other. However, human interventions, such as the cutting down of trees for urban expansion or the construction of houses, somehow put a strain on that fragile ecosystem, causing countless concerns, such as the destruction of natural habitats or the depletion of resources. Since each individual is the recipient of the surrounding for survival, they should be charged with responsible endeavors to reverse those negative impacts. For instance, individuals utilize road infrastructure for everyday commutes, thereby being responsible for the amounts of noxious carbon emissions emitted into the atmosphere.
Moreover, a concerted effort from each individual is far more effective than the sole interventions from the government. Indeed, governmental budget and effort need to be allocated to various sources, and that their environmental endeavors alone cannot cover the large areas in need, thereby environment-related issues still go rampant. For instance, some remote streams, which are polluted due to household wastes and industrial sewage, may not receive necessary budget from the authorities to conduct cleaning processes. Meanwhile, sustainable practices from each individual can help ensure a sanitary setting on a large scale, ultimately accomplishing environmental protection in the long run.
In conclusion, individuals should be required to join forces with the authorities, with the objectives of ensuring a sustainable future path for humankind. This stems from the immense strain that each person place on their settings, and the fact that collaboration is inherently more conducive to goal achievements.
