While it’s argued that the state should support older people with care and financial security, but others believe that they have to save the money for potential financial disabilities in the future, when they get older, in my opinion, government should take the responsibility for older people.
On the one hand, some individuals think that the elderly should save money for their own retirement. They should take responsibility for themselves and not rely on the government. This is because by saving money during working time, people can reduce their dependency on the state and promote long-term financial independency. The second reason is the state may not allocate enough funds for older citizens. For example, it can be caused by other problems such as political and economical problems, which also require a big amount of money.
On the other hand, authorities should give help for older adults to prevent poverty in nations, as well as they cannot work in their ages and do not have enough savings. Therefore, without the help, they fall into Poverty. The second reason is that the healthcare might be a bit expensive for retirees. For instance, as we get older, our health declines and the treatments might be high-priced, and not all older people can afford it, thus the help from the state is an essential part in governance.
In conclusion, despite some say of individuals about the independence of the state in old age, I believe that offering help would be more helpful in their health condition and better life.
