Nowadays, as new innovations have been advancing, many people believe that this has adverse effects on their lives. While technological advancements have certain disadvantages, I would argue that this is a desirable trend, because this often makes people’s lives more convenient in medical centers or field of architecture.
On the one hand, opponents of technological advancements contend that it has negative sides on their lives. First and foremost, currently, more and more people are becoming indifferent and lazy because of new breakthroughs. When they can readily clean their home, commute to their work, order products online, they are high likely to become lazy and indifferent. For instance, people now can order dishes or even clothes online in the comfort of their homes, which, in turn, lead to sedentary lifestyle. Besides, there are technologies like mobile phones, which have negative impact on eye vision. This is because it often releases detrimental lights. Many individuals, as a result, argue that technological progress has its own drawbacks.
Nevertheless, I am convinced that these downsides are not as significant as the upsides, which technological advancements offer. One of the main advantages of new innovations is that it usually makes people’s lives easier. In the past, many people frequently died because of diseases; however, now people’s life expectancy is longer thanks to new breakthroughs in medicine. For example, if individuals do not have one arm or leg, they now can use artificial one, leading to better lives. In addition, erecting new residential areas is not a hardship anymore due to technological progresses. In the past, people used to build new housing areas in approximately three to five years, yet now it is not like that. Builders now can construct new accommodations easily in a year with the help of new innovations such as 3D concrete printer trucks and mobile batching plants.
Furthermore, interacting with someone, who is in another country is not a problem anymore, as people now can keep in touch with them in platforms like Telegram or Instagram with the help of mobile phones. Otherwise, they might visit another country to keep in touch with their loved ones by cars or planes, which are technological advancements as well. Hence, in my opinion, technological advancement is not something that is issue, but it makes people’s lives more convenient in numerous ways.
In conclusion, although new innovations have some drawbacks, they are outweighed by the benefits, because new breakthroughs not only make people’s lives easier in field of medicine or architecture, but also help people overcoming geographical barriers. Therefore, I disagree with this perspective.
