Band 7+: In every country, there are driving laws to ensure road safety. Some people, however, still break these laws, such as by speeding or using mobile phones while driving. What are the reasons for this? What measures could help solve this problem?

In today’s world, although traffic laws are established to ensure the safety of all road users, many drivers still break them, for example by speeding and using mobile phones while driving. There are several reasons for this trend but l believe that certain steps can be taken in order to address this issue.

One major problem that people violate traffic laws is a lack of awareness about the serious consequences of their actions. Many drivers underestimate the dangers of speeding or texting while driving, believing that these kinds of accidents will not happen to them. Another reason is the pressure of modern lifestyles. For example, people often rush to reach their destinations on time, which leads them to drive faster than the legal speed limit. Additionally, mobile phones have become an essential part of daily life so drivers find it difficult to ignore calls or messages.

Regarding solutions, one way to tackle this issue would be governmental actions such as higher fines, license suspension and penalty points. For instance, in places with speed cameras or high fines, the number of accidents caused by speeding has decreased, showing that strict rules can change drivers’ behaviors. Another solution is to raise awareness among the drivers. To clarify, public awareness campaigns should be organized to educate people about the risk of dangerous driving behaviors.

In conclusion, breaking the traffic rules by drivers poses danger to our life, but l believe that some steps such as governmental actions and raising awareness can be taken in order to tackle this problem.
