While this may be the culprit of the imblance financial allocation of national resources, various merits given by improvement are worth highlighting.

It is within the realm of possibility that this modernization initiative is the financial burden it places on government budgets. The construction of new buildings entails considerable expenditures, including the costs of raw materials and labour. This financial outlay often results in an imbalance, diverting essential funding away from other critical sectors such as education and healthcare. For instance, in developing nations, the focus on urban development can inadvertently lead to the neglect of educational institutions, which are crucial for the country’s long-term growth and stability.

Despite the aforementioned demerit, this essay would argue that this process can significantly enhance a nation’s identity and ensure the safety of its residents. Firstly, the modernization of urban architecture contributes to spreading the nation’s uniqueness. Old, dilapidated buildings can detract from a city’s image, while new constructions, characterised by innovative designs, can leave a lasting impression on visitors and enhance a nation’s stature on the global stage, promoting national pride and can boost tourism. Secondly, upgrading infrastructure with cutting-edge technology improves safety for residents. These enhancements contribute to a safer living and working environment, fostering a sense of security among citizens. For instance, an ageing residence in Vietnam, lacking essential fire safety measures, led to devastating tragedies.
