In some countries, people face growing number of CCTV cameras in buildings. Although this measure seems to be exsessive, I strongly believe that advantages of this action offset disadvantages.
Foremost, cameras in public organization gives people the feeling of being under control. This can prevent them to commit crimes. For instance, Japain has been said to be the safest country in the world for 5 years in a row. Mainly because the cameras are installed all over the towns, and local residents are aware of being watched 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Furthermore, this measure provides undeniable evidence in court. For example, be means of CCTV camers, police can trail criminals within a few days and give to a judge undeniable proofs.
However video survellians do not ensure safety. There are numerous cases where criminals resort to crime being completely aware of nearby cameras. And the main disadvantage is appear to be in individuals who might exploit for their benefit. One example is a huge scandal in Korea in 2016. A head of one company was charged with filming female celebrities in locker and restrooms, when one of the singers had complained. Initially installed for security measures, cameras vioalated personal boundaries.
In conclusion, although video survellians have fewer drawbacks, it seems to me that people are able to use them in aid of society and its safety.
