In an era characterized by rapid advancements in agriculture and industry, wasting significant amounts of food has become an increasingly common phenomenon. While this trend primarily stems from the affordability of products and changes in cultural norms, I believe both the government and the population have measures to combat this issue.
The rise in wasted food can be attributed to a variety of factors. One of the reasons for throwing food out is cost-effectiveness. Due to the widespread availability of chemicals, fertilizers, and advanced technological methods, the agriculture industry is producing more crops than ever before, reducing the cost of products in retail stores. Given this affordability, it is not surprising to see many people disposing of food without appreciating its value. Another factor contributing to food waste is the decline in traditional values. Nowadays, the appreciation and value placed on products are not similar to those of the past, as in those times, many individuals often considered the ethical and moral value of goods. A case in point is my country, Uzbekistan, where some individuals still prefer to purchase limited products for their daily necessities and preferences.
However, there are various ways in which the problem of food waste can be addressed. On a governmental scale, it is essential to reduce food waste. This can be accomplished by increasing the price of products, raising customs tariffs, and teaching the public about food disposal behavior through public awareness campaigns like school-based programs and community outreach projects. On an individual level, it is important to improve appreciation for food. This can be done by consuming a limited amount of food, purchasing only what is necessary, and using these products more efficiently. Without the implementation of these measures, the problem of food waste may be perpetuated even further.
In conclusion, although the problem of food waste is driven by affordability and changes in social customs, I believe both the authorities and society have various ways to address this issue.
