Obesity has become a major pandemic disease in developed countries, affecting especially to a large number of children. In this essay, I will assess the principal causes of this issue and will suggest measures that can be implemented to alleviate the problem.
First and foremost, the fast-paced lifestyle we follow in our daily lives prevent individuals of getting healthy routines. The main unhealthy habits adopted by people are detrimental diets and lack of exercise, which, in turn, are passed from parents to children, affecting their overall health. As a consequence of parents not having enough free-time to prepare homemade meals, they rely in fast-food and processed products, which increase the obesity rates among their children. Furthermore, the technology-evolving era we live in today have replaced the old active games children used to play to more sedentary activities like video-games. Consequently, this had a significant negatively impact in the well-being of the young generations.
Measures should be implemented into society with the government’s aid in order of reducing the obesity rates among the youth. A compelling solution could be to introduce food services at schools where students can eat healthy lunches. As a result, parents would stop relaying on fast-food and would cultivate a proper lifestyle for the students. Furthermore, sports and other fitness activities should be encouraged between younger citizens, as it will contribute to maintain a normal weigh as well as nurturing social connections.
In conclusion, the rapid lives adults carry out prevent them to properly care of their offspring well-being, however, actions to foster exercising and dieting can be fomented to prevent overweigh epidemics in our population.
