Band 7+: In many countries, children are engaged in some kind of paid work. Some people regard this as completely wrong, while others consider it as valuable work experience. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In many parts of the country, children are engaged in a small amount of wage labor. Some view this as illegal, while others believe it is a valuable opportunity for engagement. This essay will discuss both perspectives and explain why I believe we are faced with a combination of both situations.

To begin with, children have been working illegally in various sectors. Additionally, many students are compelled to work hard by their parents or grandparents due to family circumstances. In some families, where literacy is low, children under the age of 15 must work for their survival. In India, there are special laws prohibiting work for individuals under 18 years old, as their understanding and knowledge are often insufficient. For example, in my neighborhood, there is a 13-year-old child involved in wage labor who has been assigned heavy tasks, such as moving materials from one location to another. Unfortunately, he tried to carry out his work and fell from the first floor of the building, resulting in a serious injury.

On the other hand, many people agree that children’s work can provide valuable experience that enhances their skills. Some children work alongside family members, gaining support and mentorship from them. Many young individuals gain self-confidence through their efforts and eventually achieve success. For instance, one of my friends, who worked hard alongside his family while growing up, realized his dream of building his own hospital. Today, he is the CEO of a successful healthcare company, demonstrating the potential outcomes of such experiences.

In conclusion, while some argue that child labor is illegal, others assert that it provides essential experience for the future. I believe that each individual’s situation is a result of a combination of factors. Moreover, in some areas, children work to support their families, while others gain experience through hard labor and ultimately find success. It is important for everyone to recognize that hard work should be valued and can lead to success.
