Individuals worldwide like to consume foods, which are not traditional for the agriculture of their regions, thereby leading to increased utilizing of imported goods. I think that merits of this trend, such as wide range of food, and its quality outshines the primary drawback, namely regress in national manufacturing.
On the one hand, a vast array of imported food creates barriers for farmers and manufacturers who try to experiment with planting various seeds. These factors block the entry of national producers to local market. For example, the recent survey conducted by the Indian researchers shows that more than half of farmers abandoned their farmlands due to decreasing interest in national goods. Without any doubts, this development has a detrimental impact on economy and traditions.
On the other hand, more individuals prefer to purchase food which do not grow on their local zones, as it offers wide variety of fruits or vegetables available. Taking into account, that there are lots of countries which face a shortage of green areas to grow anything, importing food can be remedy for their people. For instance, 80% of Egypt’s territory is occupied by deserts, resulting in increased need for food, purchased from other countries. In addition, some individuals might prefer to consume quality food, which is not observed in their regions. It is obvious that, some countries do not have flora and fauna which is essential for some species to exist, resulting in lack of quality food needed for healthy life. For example, several Arabic countries do not have an exit to seas or lakes, and therefore their people have to buy quality fish imported from the European countries.
In conclusion, the fact that untraditional food offers a vast array of choices, and remarkable quality ultimately outweighs the main drawback, such as decreasing level of national manufacturing.
