Band 8+: In many countries schools have severe problems with student behaviour, what do you think are causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?

In many parts of the world, schools are dealing with increasing problems related to student behaviour. Many teachers find it difficult to control classrooms because some students are becoming more disrespectful, careless, and less interested in studies. I believe there are a few main reasons behind this issue, and several steps can be taken to improve the situation.

A reason for this is that a lot of parents don’t have enough time for their kids. With work taking up so much of their time, some students don’t get the guidance and discipline they need at home. This means they might start looking up to their friends, social media, and mobile phones instead of their family. For example, if a student spends a lot of time watching bad stuff online, they might start acting aggressively or rudely over time. When parents aren’t around to teach their kids what’s right and wrong, it can be hard for them to learn good values. As a result, they might pick up bad habits from the people and things they’re around the most. This can be really tough for kids, because they need their parents to show them how to behave and make good choices. Without that, they might get into trouble or have a hard time succeeding in school and in life.

Today students are under a lot of pressure in school. Most schools care more about grades and exams than about how students are feeling. This means that students’ emotional well-being is often overlooked. As a result, many teenagers feel really stressed, frustrated, or like they don’t fit in at school. Also, the internet makes it easy for young people to see and copy bad behavior, which can change how they act in school. For example, they might see something online and then do the same thing at school, which can be a problem. This can affect not just the student, but also their friends and the whole school community. Schools should try to find a balance between academics and emotional support, so students can feel happy and successful.

To really make a difference, it’s crucial that parents and teachers work together, talking regularly to guide students in the right direction. Schools can also play a big role by organizing sports, counselling sessions, and projects that encourage teamwork – this can help students feel more positive and involved in what’s going on. Plus, teaching kids about moral values and how to treat others with respect from a young age can have a huge impact. By doing these things, we can create a more supportive and inclusive environment that helps students thrive.

In my opinion, improving student behaviour is a shared responsibility between schools and families. If children receive proper support, attention, and encouragement, they are more likely to become responsible and respectful individuals in society.
