In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in criminal activity worldwide. Society cannot afford to become hardened or ignorant. Therefore, this essay aims to address the crucial underlying causes of the majority of crimes committed and propose several possible strategies to deter such offenses in the near future.
To begin with, the roots of criminal behavior often stem from poor childhood backgrounds. The absence of a mentor or parental figure to guide young individuals along the right path can have devastating effects. Furthermore, schools and other educational institutions also share the responsibility for the rise in criminal activity. Ineffective methods of instilling strong morals and values in students act as significant catalysts for negative development. If the government were to invest in enhancing the wealth of available resources, such as offering diverse extracurricular activities and establishing volunteer centers with psychological support and coaching, rather than expelling students, it would likely lead to a decrease in illicit behavior.
Expanding upon the causes of crime, it is essential to confront issues like greed, which can lead to corruption and nepotism. The lack of regular audits and frequent patrols in law enforcement contributes to a growing trend of unlawful acts, including tax extortion and forgery. Moreover, in Ukraine, police officers, court officials, and political workers often feel compelled to participate in this corrupt system to avoid being fired by their superiors. In my opinion, underdeveloped countries—particularly those that were formerly part of the Soviet Union—have significant work to accomplish. However, there are promising conditions for addressing corruption today, particularly by raising awareness through social media.
In conclusion, entire communities must come together to combat and reduce crime rates. Each individual also bears responsibility for the welfare of their country. Instead of solely criticizing the police, society should strive to call them into action and work collaboratively for positive change.
