Nowadays, a large number of countries have been faced with a huge decline in the diversity of plant and animal species. I think the most notable reasons are climate change and bush fires. This essay is going to explain the reasons and how we can cope with it.
Climate change is one of the main factors which affects the loss of biodiversity. Especially, the melting of the ice in the poles causes a decrease in sea temperature. Therefore, some sea animals and plants face disadvantageous situations. For instance, the Great Barrier Reef on the eastern coast of Australia has been experiencing environmental degradation. For this reason, the Australian government has taken some actions, such as not allowing swimming without a full body cover swimsuit because sun protection creams may affect the species. Fishing also is completely banned in this unique water. I think some public awareness activities and saving nature workshops for the visitors or tourists could be helpful to protect the beaches and seas.
Another important reason which causes ecosystem imbalance is bush fires. Some of them are caused by human activities, and they can be prevented. I think governments and citizens should work on it together. Fires and barbecues, even picnics, should be banned in natural habitats which have unique species. I believe that protecting nature is both the government’s and people’s responsibility. For example, in every national park in Australia, wood fires are banned, and electric barbecues are placed in particular areas. If the rule is broken, a high fine is paid.
In conclusion, there has been a noticeable reduction in natural habitats because of the potential reasons. However, governments and people can make an effort to conserve nature by taking some actions and following rules.
